Longsleddale is a beautiful unspoilt valley in the heart of Cumbria through which flows the River Sprint. It is thought to be the inspiration behind the fictional village of Greendale which is home to Postman Pat. Situated on the edge of the Lake District, just a few miles north of Kendal it is a great spot for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley. Kendal is the nearest market town to the valley, the home of the Kendal mint cake, which has a variety of high street and independent shops as well as the ruins of the 12 century Kendal Castle which is free for visitors.
