Cumbria & the Lake District food & drink
Cumbria and the Lake District have a superb selection of local pubs serving refreshing real ales in beautiful locations across the area. This region is also home to the Keswick brewing company, a small family-run business which offers a fine selection of locally produced beers. The brewery offers visitors a fascinating tour of its brewery house which has been making beers since 1875. You’ll soon be wetting your whistle with so many great tasting ales to try on your holiday.
If you're in the mood for a nice cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake. Cumbria and the Lake District have plenty of cafes, and tea rooms to satisfy your tea and cake needs. The Curly Tails Café at Walby Farm Park is a lovely place to visit. The café is set amongst gorgeous Cumbrian countryside and is great for family days out with its own children’s play area. Or why not visit Blackwell Tea Room which was voted one of the ‘top 50 best places to eat alfresco’.
The Lake District isn’t short of quality restaurants either. Whether you’re looking for a restaurant which comes with a range of leisure activities onsite, or a secluded location admiring the miles of gorgeous countryside, or even a stylish country inn, you’ll find your perfect dining experience in the Lake District. All you have to do is choose!
Alternatively, pick up your own supplies for your self-catering holiday from one of the many farmers markets hosted throughout the county. The farmers markets are a great way to spend a day admiring the superb range of authentic local produce and picking up your favourite ingredients to enjoy fresh local dishes in the comfort of your own cosy cottage with loved ones.
