Yorkshire Beard Day 2014

Written by Kirsty Jones on

Beard Day

The bearded month of ‘Movember’ is a long way off, it doesn’t seem too long ago that the beard came, conquered and then as soon as December hit was hastily shaved off for charity. But for some men a beard is for life and not just for November so in celebration of this there’s the Yorkshire Beard Day 2014.

Saturday March 22nd marks the celebration of all things beard related at the Scarborough Spa Complex. The event is organised by The British Beard Club and they want people with all different shapes and sizes of beard to come together to drink real ale, dance and compete all whilst having lots of family fun.

Don’t worry if you can’t grow a beard yourself either as there’s even going to be a prize for the best fake beard! Or if you’re lucky enough to grow anything from styled stubble to a full beard with a styled moustache why not enter the competition to claim the title of best Yorkshire Beard 2014. The event will include bearded bands, a beard portrait competition that’s either drawn or painted, beer tasting and much more, all whilst raising funds for the Prostate Cancer UK Charity.

The day’s fun starts at 2pm and there’s also an after party being organised with transport taking you from each location in case you’ve had a few too many ales!

Why not make a weekend of it in Scarborough for anyone travelling from further afield we have a great selection of places to stay. Our sister site Ingrid Flute Yorkshire Holiday Cottages have a great selection of lovely self-catering properties in Scarborough here.

For anyone thinking of growing a moustache or beard here are some facts, the average man touches his moustache 760 times a day and it’s also the fastest growing hair on any part of the body so there’s still time to get a decent looking one before next Saturday!
