York Cocoa House
Now we know it was Pancake Day yesterday which is the best day of the year for many, but as we have closely debated in the office this morning not everyone loves the humble yet diverse pancake. So we’ve decided to highlight another joy in many people’s lives… Chocolate.
The ‘York Cocoa House’ is an amazing temple of chocolate situated in the centre of the beautiful city of York, offering a mouth-watering array of chocolaty goodness. The owner Sophie says it was her dream to open up the chocolate industry to the public and let you see for yourself how the heavenly indulgent snack is made.
She runs a chocolate school which has a lovely array of classes around the different skills required to make the ultimate indulgence, from designing and making your own chocolate bar to hand crafting chocolate cats or ducks. There are classes that help you make your own savoury chocolate creations like the Aztecs all those years ago, or do you have an important dinner date coming up and you want to impress? They even run a dinner party desserts course!
There’s a wonderful café where you can fill up delicious treats and the menu does range from chocolate in case you are need a break from cocoa for a little while. They even won the Visit York 2013 café and tea room of the year award so you know it’s going to be top quality food.
Their shop stocks a range of locally made hand crafted chocolaty treats, jams, marshmallows and more from around Yorkshire with strong ethos of supporting local. So you can take some of the yummy treats you have tried home to any loved ones who couldn’t make it!
