Pub of The Year 2014
This month saw the announcement of a humble pub in Lancashire the ‘Swan with Two Necks’ win CAMRA’s National Pub of the Year Award. Real ale seems synonymous with the North, having a good pint of beer with your bangers and mash is a must for pretty much any Northerner.
The award winning pub beat off over 57,000 other potential pubs to win the title which really does show how good you have to be receive the prize, not only is the award great for the pub itself it’s also a great win for the local area as it’s sure to bring more people to the region.
The quaint village of Pendleton is where the award winning pub is situated and the traditional coaching inn has been open since 1776 supplying weary travellers a place to rest upon their journeys. The pub is still central to the village with a great following of locals and newcomers alike and in a time where the age of the pub is uncertain it’s great to see.
Now not only has the ‘Swan with Two Necks’ got an excellent choice of real ale but they also supply great home-cooked food with a strong local influence. The pub has a traditional feel around it and they have some lovely outside benches that allow you to take in the views of the beautiful stream that runs through the stunning village.
