Fish and chip week

National fish and chip week has begun and for many finding the perfect fish and chips is a must, luckily for us Whitby is home to the winner of the fish and chip shop of the year 2014. So to find this English classic at the top of its game you’ll need to travel to the mighty Yorkshire.

The humble chip has been has been a popular accompaniment to any meal for years with a whopping 1.6 million tonnes of potatoes being turned into chips and fed to our hungry stomachs each year.

The award winning ‘Quayside’ restaurant in Whitby offers a mouth-watering selection of fresh fish fried to perfection and they even offer a gluten free batter for anyone who requires it. Not only do they fry the best fish and chips in the UK but they get involved in lots of great charity work, raising awareness for sustainable fishing and the plight of fishermen.

Whitby not only has the UK’s Fish and Chip shop shining glory but it’s also recently won Country Files award of best market town! So there’s definitely a lot to see and do and not only has it got a recognised thriving market but it’s also home to a stunning harbour and beach.
