The Wild and Windy Moors
The moors are so beautiful at this time of year. Whether you’re in Lancashire or Yorkshire, the most blustery landscape offers the most perfect views...
There are a number of circular walks around to take advantage of. Obviously we don’t advise the more adventurous routes in bad weather, but around Lancashire and Yorkshire there are plenty of "on the beaten" tracks to show off the hills and valleys. This website is particularly good to plan your route; we have used some of the routes ourselves in the past.
One quote that we feel really sums up the understated moorland is Charlotte Brontë on her sister Emily's love of the moors:
"Flowers brighter than the rose bloomed in the blackest of the heath for her; out of a sullen hollow in a livid hillside her mind could make an Eden"
You’ll surprise yourself by just looking a little closer at the landscape. The rolling, rocky hills and valleys have a lot more going on than meets the on looking eye. Get out there and explore!
