North York Moors Railway

You’ll be whisked back to a bygone era as you head through Heartbeat land. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a great way to see some of the timeless scenery in this beautiful part of the country. Starting at Pickering and heading as far as Whitby you can enjoy a whistle stop tour of the Moors by steam!

The run to Whitby is particularly special as you can indulge in some fish and chips by the bay before heading back. It’s the perfect day out- and you can be sure that even the youngest of travellers will be entertained! The train carriages are the way trains ought to be: comfortable wooden and upholstered booths with big bold windows framing the wonderful views. The friendly staff are warm and welcoming, and will often allow a photo or two for little steam buffs!

For an extra special day be sure to take a look at the NYMR events calendar. Throughout the year they have a range of galas, gigs, and weekends which will suit most tastes. Music, classic cars, and seasonal activities prove popular with families and enthusiasts alike. It’s an ideal attraction for a holiday in the North Yorkshire Moors.
